If something goes wrong, you shouldn't pay for it. Here's exactly when and how we issue refunds.

1. Online Lessons — Refund Scenarios

The following refund rules apply to online classes (1-to-1 sessions and mini batch classes) booked through BengalTutors.

Cancel any time before your first scheduled session and receive 100% of your payment back.

If your tutor fails to attend without prior notice (15+ minutes late), report it and we'll refund automatically.

If our classroom or platform fails and the session can't happen, we refund or re-schedule.

First-session dissatisfaction

If your first lesson didn't meet expectations, request a refund within 24 hours of the session — no questions asked.

Mid-course cancellation (multi-session package)

Unused sessions are refunded on a pro-rata basis. Completed sessions are non-refundable.

You may cancel a scheduled session up to 24 hours in advance and shift the credit to another session.

Cancellations less than 24 hours before the session are not refunded but the tutor may agree to re-schedule.

If you've attended 50% or more of the sessions in a paid package, the package is non-refundable.

If your account is terminated for violating our Terms & Conditions, paid balances are forfeited.

2. Home Tutoring — Refund Scenarios

Home tutoring fees are paid by the student directly to the tutor, not through BengalTutors. We handle commission payments from tutors to BengalTutors only.

2.1 For students

  • If a tutor you were matched with cancels or doesn't show up for the agreed first session, contact us and we'll find a replacement tutor or cancel the request at no cost to you.
  • Any payments made to the tutor directly are between you and the tutor. We will mediate disputes but cannot refund money we never received.

2.2 For tutors (commission refunds)

Tutors pay BengalTutors a 20% commission on the first month's earnings from each new student. This commission is non-refundable once paid, except in the following cases:

  • Student fraudulently registers and never engages in lessons (proof required);
  • BengalTutors fails to deliver a verified introduction (we'll cancel before commission is due);
  • Duplicate or accidental payment.

3. How to Request a Refund

Refund process

  1. Submit a request Email contact@bengaltutors.com or use the "Request Refund" button in your dashboard. Include your order/transaction ID, the reason, and any supporting screenshots.
  2. Review (1–2 business days) Our support team reviews your request, confirms eligibility, and may contact the tutor for their side of the story.
  3. Decision & communication We respond within 2 business days with an approval, partial approval, or denial — and the reasoning.
  4. Refund issued (5–7 business days) Approved refunds are processed back to your original payment method via SSLCommerz.
  5. Confirmation You'll receive an email confirmation with the refund transaction reference. Allow your bank/wallet 1–3 more days to display the credit.

4. Refund Methods & Timelines

Refunds are always issued to your original payment method. Typical timelines:

  • bKash / Nagad / Rocket / Upay — 1–3 business days after approval;
  • Local debit cards (DBBL, BRAC, EBL, etc.) — 5–7 business days;
  • International credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX) — 7–14 business days (bank dependent);
  • Direct bank transfer — 3–5 business days.

If your refund hasn't arrived after the above window, contact us with the refund reference number we provided.

5. Non-Refundable Items

  • Completed sessions (already taught);
  • Membership or subscription fees after 7 days;
  • Sessions cancelled less than 24 hours in advance by the student;
  • Service charges for SSLCommerz, bKash, or other gateway transaction fees (these are passed on by the provider);
  • Refunds requested more than 30 days after the original payment.

6. Disputes & Escalation

If you disagree with a refund decision, you may escalate by emailing contact@bengaltutors.com. A senior team member will re-review your case within 5 business days. You may also raise a complaint with your bank or SSLCommerz if you believe a transaction was unauthorised.

7. Chargebacks

Please contact us first before initiating a chargeback through your bank or card issuer. Fraudulent or abusive chargebacks may result in account suspension and recovery action under Bangladeshi law.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date reflects the most recent change. Changes will not apply retroactively to refund requests already submitted.
